Mera Peak Climbing is a high-altitude Himalayan expedition that takes you deep into the remote Hinku Valley before reaching the summit at 6,476 meters (21,247 ft). The journey begins with a flight to Lukla and continues through quieter mountain trails, traditional settlements, rhododendron forests, and increasingly rugged alpine landscapes.
The route gradually gains elevation through Paiya, Panggom, Ningsow, Chhatra Khola, Kothe, Thangnak, and Khare. At Khare, the expedition shifts from trekking to climbing, with acclimatization and practical preparation before moving toward Mera High Camp and the summit.
Mera Peak is often chosen as an introduction to climbing above 6,000 meters because the main challenge comes from altitude, endurance, glacier conditions, and a long summit day, rather than highly technical rock climbing. However, the climb still requires proper preparation, suitable equipment, acclimatization, and competent mountain support.
After the summit attempt, the route descends through Kothe and Thuli Kharka before crossing Zatrwa La at around 4,610 meters and returning to Lukla.
